December is upon us, and that means holiday shopping, long waits in airport security, enough Christmas music to last a lifetime, and, of course, “best of” lists.

Paste is kicking off the year end season with their “50 Best Albums of 2012″ list. “Best of” lists are obviously a matter of opinion: we know that. Paste’s list will be different than Vice’s list which will be different than Pitchfork’s list. The fun lies in the overlap. It’s nice to see which albums everyone agrees on, and it’s a great way to discover new music that you may have missed in the last twelve months.

We have a prediction: expect to see 2012 Bonfire Sessions alumn Father John Misty near the top of all of the year end lists. His debut album, Fear Fun is definitely at the top of our list!
