In our second installment of “Listen To This”, we’re hooking you up with a free download from Toronto’s Dusted. Name sound familiar? That’s because they just played at our Toronto Bonfire Sessions event last week opening for Smith Westerns.

Now, we have to confess, none of us knew much about Dusted’s sound going into the event last week. The band is relatively new and all we could find online was one sneak peak track off the band’s upcoming debut album. We loved it though, and we also know songwriter Brian Borcherdt spends most of his days as part of the awesome electro shoegaze/post rock outfit Holy F*ck, which in and of itself gave Dusted immediate credibility in our minds.

As if we weren’t completely sold after the group (which includes Borcherdt and drummer/producer/multi-instrumentalist Leon Taheny) put on a killer set at the Bonfire Sessions last week, our friends at Noisey.com posted the entire debut album from Dusted, Total Dust, as a free stream.

The disc is beautifully produced, carefully crafted and arranged shoegaze glory. Many of the songs on Total Dust could stand alone on a naked acoustic guitar, but Dusted chooses to deliver them colored with fuzzy guitars, airy vocals, stripped down electronic and acoustic percussion, and gorgeous swells of feedback.

Total Dust is out July 10th on Polyvinyl Records and you can purchase it here.
